Michael Ives - Aberdovey, Wales, 1958
What a shock to see a photo of Drake Watch from January 1958 submitted by Barry John Gilbert! I have a very similar photo from the same time - in this photo I am the 15 year old first lad in the standing back row.
I seem to remember that Drake Watch was a bit lazy, until the last week when we tried to prove we were just as good as the other watches.
I have nothing but the fondest memories of my time at Aberdovey and I know it greatly increased my self confidence; also I think I held the junior long jump record for a time.
I am now 70 and retired (I was a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, working for one of the worlds largest electrical components manufactures). I still keep an interest in sailing and belong to the local sailing club. I also keep fit by regularly going to the gym.
