Terry Thomas - Devon on Ashburton, 1966
We camped for the night just outside Sticklepath in Devon, it was blowing and raining for Britain and we were struggling to get the Bivys up. We spied a barn and decamped to its relative warmth and comfort. In the morning we had planned to get away at first light but were woken at 0900Hrs by the farmers wife with a steaming half gallon teapot and rounds of buttered toast. The best we could come up with was 11d (thats about 5p in mickey mouse money). I'm pretty sure we were D57 and a police cadet from Liverpool called Andy Gorrie figures very prominently.
